TLC on Health

TLC is dedicated to issues that affect the Hispanic community, but most of all we are dedicated to the community itself. In that sense, the health of our citizens is a top priority. We all know that healthcare is expensive and no one wants to spend a lot of money getting well. This is why TLC focuses our attention on wellness – staying healthy.

When our kids are healthy, they do better in school. When adults are healthy, they are more productive at work and provide better for their families. We are committed to policies that result in a healthier community by, for example, reducing the incidences of chronic, and avoidable conditions like Type 2 diabetes, heart disease and STDs.

We are all connected by health and as such, TLC is working with the medical, business and political communicates to develop programs to create opportunities for healthier lifestyles within the Hispanic community. Better access to quality healthcare, quality food and opportunities for exercise are all goals we are working to achieve.

TLC on Education

Many of the school districts in America today have become indoctrination centers. They are moving away from teaching the skills needed to succeed and improve society. Parents are losing control of their children’s education. TLC believes that this must be fixed.

To be certain children will be educated as the parents want, parents must be given the ability to monitor and manage what takes place in the classrooms. Too many schools block parents’ involvement. The system does this because they can: parents have no control over where their students are sent to school. School choice, either with vouchers or a system with selection opportunity gives the power of which school the students attend to families. Once the schools begin to create market-driven selection, the parents will be able to choose the course of education for their children. The school administrators will quickly learn the necessity of pleasing parents for the schools to survive.

The arrogance of those in control to act as if they know better for the students than their parents is preposterous. Former Texas Senator Phil Gramm used to say, “No one is going to love my boys as much as I do.” We are at a point where schools see students as objects to be used rather than as individual children; this can only be overcome by parents’ involvement. The distant bureaucracy in pursuit of power and manipulation of minds must be stopped so we can equip our future leaders and pass on the values that made this country great.

Border Security

No country in the world welcomes new citizens as has the United States. We are the last refuge from oppressive and evil regimes. We want this country to remain the refuge of choice for those in need to protect their lives. But we cannot be a refuge when leaders in other countries are so corrupt that their economies are closed except to the ruling elites.

TLC has worked with our lawyers to create a Family Stabilization plan for work visas to allow workers to return home and then back to their families here. We recognize people who came here and participated in community life, had families and paid taxes deserve to be recognized and should be allowed to remain here to complete their nurturing of their families. They cannot, while driving carpool, live in fear of being separated and sent to a country they no longer know.

This will include the “Dreamers”, whom we have educated and who know no other home.
We call on the US Government to enforce the laws as they exist today and improve those that block the fulfillment and the protection of American ideals. No country can be a country without secure borders. We must enforce our laws while we demonstrate the compassion of our fellow Americans to make exception for people who have called America home and offer them participation as our guests.

TLC on Crime

We believe that the first responsibility of any government is the protection and well being of its citizens. One of the principal causes behind the mass migration we see coming into the US is the failure of many countries to fulfill this responsibility for their people.

Frighteningly, we see that many in our government who are charged with this duty are allowing crime to run wild in our country as well. Crime attacks the Hispanic community particularly hard. Dangerous gangs have moved north and are taking control of many of our communities. Not only do they bring a drug culture, they traffic young women — treating them as slaves. The Hispanic community’s children here in the US are being attacked and compromised during the turf wars of these cruel gangs.

Our government is not getting sufficient pressure from the community to fight this scourge on our society and quality of life. In our schools, in our stores and on our streets our children are victims of these criminals.
A primary goal of Texas Latino Conservatives is to promote leaders and help elect officials who see these dangers and who will take whatever lawful means are available for the protection of the people. We cannot allow what has happened at the border to infiltrate the entire country. We have seen many of our major cities on fire with billions of dollars of destruction and economies brought to a halt by the lawlessness. We have a moral obligation to protect our families and our neighbors.
